Simple and direct best describes the early Porsche 911. Over the years many of the stock components have deteriorated on your car and you may not even know it. Replacement shocks and bushings will restore that sure footed nature to your 911.

Most 1974 and later 911's came from the Porsche with Boge struts and shocks. Both Koni and Bilstein have been utilized on the "sport" suspension cars. It's important to know which front strut your car has. Boge is black, Koni is red and Bilstein is green. If your car is equipped with Boge, you really have the most options in terms of inserts. Koni, Bilstein and Boge all make inserts that will fit the original Boge strut housing. If your car has Koni strut housings you must use the appropriate Koni insert for that strut as neither Bilstein or Boge makes an insert for a Koni strut housing. Similarly, if you have Bilstein strut housings you must use the correct Bilstein insert for that housing as neither Koni or Boge produces an insert for the Bilstein Housing.

For a given application, Koni and Bilstein may produce several inserts and shocks. Koni produces both a Standard Red and a Sport Yellow insert and shock for many 911's. All Koni applications for the early 911 are adjustable for the rebound action of the shock. Rebound is the force of the shock that allows it to control the spring or torsion bar on your car. This adjustability is invaluable when utilizing larger than stock torsion bars or setting the car up for track use. The larger the torsion bar or spring, the more rebound forces the shock needs to control that spring or torsion bar. Generally, the Koni adjustment gives you 100% increase in the rebound forces of the shock or strut. The Sport Yellow Koni simply has stiffer valving than the Standard Red and will be appropriate for owners that want a firmer suspension for street or track use.
